New cases of the novel coronavirus that emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan in late December are being reported daily around the world.
More than 46,000 people have died from COVID-19, as the illness is officially known, while over 921,000 infections have been confirmed in at least 180 countries and territories. More than 192,000 people have recovered from the coronavirus.
United States – 206,207 cases, 4,542 deaths
Italy – 110,574 cases, 13,155 deaths
Spain – 102,179 cases, 9,131 deaths
China – 82,361 cases, 3,316 deaths
The total includes 41 cases in Macau and 765 cases – four deaths – in Hong Kong.

France – 57,749 cases, 4,043 deaths
Iran – 47,593 cases, 3,036 deaths
United Kingdom – 29,857 cases, 2,357 deaths
Switzerland – 17,768 cases, 488 deaths

Belgium – 13,964 cases, 828 deaths
