British actress Cynthia Erivo is making headlines after being announced as the lead in a well-known rock opera called “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Hollywood Bowl this summer.

Erivo, known for her role as Elphaba in “Wicked,” will portray Jesus in this production, which will take place over three days, from Friday, August 1 to Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Los Angeles Amphitheatre.

According to the reports, “Jesus Christ Superstar” examines the biblical events surrounding the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ from the viewpoint of Judas Iscariot, who was both a disciple and a betrayer.

The story is told through songs and highlights the relationships and challenges faced by Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, the disciples, his followers, and the Roman Empire.
