Nigerian social media users were surprised to learn that the elder brother and former manager of P-Square is facing court charges for an alleged fraud involving N1.3 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.
It is now well-known that the Okoye brothers have been in conflict for several months and have openly shared their issues on social media.
According to the Vanguard, one of the charges states:
“That you, Jude Okoye Chigozie and Northside Music Ltd, sometime in 2022 in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did directly acquire a landed property known as No 5, Tony Eromosele Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos worth ₦850,000,000.00 (Eight hundred and fifty million naira) only, which money you knew or reasonably ought to have known forms part of proceeds of unlawful acts, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 18 (2)(d) and punishable under Section 18 (3) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.”
Another accusation claims that in 2022, Okoye and his company used a currency exchange to change $1,019,762.87 from an Access Bank account linked to Northside Music Ltd into naira. They then moved the money into different bank accounts to hide where it came from.
In response to the situation, Daddy Freeze suggested that PSquare should manage their family matters privately.
He pointed out that many people online deal with family issues, yet they manage to keep it private and away from social media.
