Media figure Ifedayo Olarinde, known as Daddy Freeze, has entered the discussion about Pastor E.A. Adeboye’s recent apology on tithing.
Pastor Adeboye, who leads the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), acknowledged that he was wrong to say that paying tithes is necessary for getting into heaven.
In a social media video, Daddy Freeze thanked Pastor Adeboye for his brave acknowledgment.
Known for his direct criticism of tithing via his “Free The Sheeple” ministry, the media figure acknowledged that his statements from seven years ago might have been too extreme.
He also mentioned that his teachings had a major effect on Pastor Abel Damina’s ministry, which initially endorsed tithing.
“I appreciate and applaud Pastor EA Adeboye, the general overseer of RCCG for his apology on tithing, daddy I appreciate the fact that you are courageous enough to agree that you made a mistake. And I also want to use this as a medium to also apologise to you over my words seven years ago about this tithing issue if they were very harsh. Seven years ago when I came with the issue of tithing, even Abel Damina then was still paying and collecting tithe, it was my message that started the Abel Damina movement you are seeing today in 2017,” DaddyFreeze said in part.
Reactions from internet users to Pastor Adeboye’s apology keep coming in, with many voicing their thoughts on the debated subject.
