Nigerian media figure Ifedayo Olarinde, known as Daddy Freeze, is in the news for criticizing gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey’s popular Hallelujah challenge.

This challenge started in 2021 and involves an hour of online praise and prayer, with many Nigerians claiming it has positively impacted their lives.

Recently, Daddy Freeze went live on Instagram to talk about current events when a viewer suggested he participate in the Hallelujah challenge.

Freeze was very upset by the comment and showed his anger during a live Instagram session. He criticized those participating in the Hallelujah challenge and questioned how Nigeria has changed since it began. He firmly warned against making such comments on his page.

In his outburst, Daddy Freeze accused Nathaniel Bassey of using the Hallelujah challenge participants to promote his brand. He also suggested that people should pay attention to his teachings to understand how to avoid praying all the time.

In his words:

Wetin concern me with Hallelujah challenge? Since they’ve been challenging Hallelujah what has happened in Nigeria? No carry that nonsense come meet me o, just keep it away from here. Wetin dem dey use una build him brand! Hallelujah challenge ko, Hosanna challenge ni! If you listen to Daddy Freeze,you will need to challenge the hallelujah less because I will teach you the common sense to have so you don’t need to have so that you don’t pray 24/7, I’m here to teach you life experience! Una no dey like hear word.”
