Prominent online commentator and celebrity critic, Daniel Regha, has expressed his disapproval of the recently controversial artist, Darlington Okoye, widely known as Speed Darlington.
GistLover recalls that Speed Darlington ignited a significant backlash on social media when he posted a video in which he held a bottle of baby oil, implying that Burna Boy was romantically involved with the troubled American rapper, Diddy. He further claimed that Burna Boy’s association with Diddy contributed to his Grammy wins. This provocative behavior resulted in Speed Darlington’s arrest by the Nigerian Police Force.
In an unexpected turn of events, despite a court ruling mandating his release, Speed Darlington remained in custody for several weeks, prompting various discussions among Nigerians.
Ultimately, after a series of legal proceedings, Speed Darlington was released on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. His lawyer, Stan Alieke, announced the news on Instagram, revealing that the singer had been freed after two months of unlawful detention.
Despite his recent release, Speed Darlington has continued to direct jabs at Burna Boy, including a recent TikTok video in which he donned a mask resembling the troubled American rapper, Diddy.
In response to Speed Darlington’s behavior, Daniel Regha criticized him on his X account for his indirect attacks on Burna Boy. He remarked that while Speed Darlington’s legal team has not advised him to cease his provocative actions, they would likely adopt a victim narrative once he finds himself incarcerated again.
Daniel Regha wrote on X:
“Speed Darlington is indirectly shading Burna by wearing a Diddy mask, his lawyer(s) won’t advise their client now; But if Burna or his team decides to get him locked up again, they will start playing the victim card. There should be a limit to one’s pettiness.”
