The United Nations have exposed that it does not recognize veteran Nigerian singer and record producer, Oladapo Oyebanjo, popularly known as Dbanj in its list of ambassadors in Africa, according to Joseph Kayanja, the director of information for UN.
This disclosure came after thousands of people signed a petition on Change.org to United Nations to strip the kokomaster off all ambassadorial deals due to the rape allegation leveled against him by a twitter user known as Aunty Seyitan.
According to her Dbanj violated her while she was asleep in her hotel room at the Glee Hotel in Lagos two years ago. She added that his boys harassed her and was arrested after she narrated her side of the story to the police.
The singer has currently been stripped off his ambassadorial deal with Heritage bank following the rape case hanging on his neck. An inquiry into the matter was sent to the United Nations to verify Dbanj’s status and was revealed that He has never been an ambassador for the UN. The UN Director Of Information, Joseph Kayanja said;
“I would like to confirm that the said Mr. Oladapo Oyebanjo aka D’Banj is NOT a UN Ambassador. The title was accorded to him by an obscure UN youth association which has nothing to do with the United Nations. I hope this clarifies.”
