Depressed And Frustrated Soldier Commits Suicide In Top Northern State

Depressed and frustrated soldier identified as Samaila Gabriel who was serving in Yobe state, has reportedly shot himself dead. The Cable reports that colleagues of the deceased said he killed himself because of the refusal of the military authority to transfer him out of the North East since he has been there for three years and had not seen his family.

Many of the soldiers prosecuting the war against Boko Haram in the North East have reportedly not been allowed to go back home to visit their family members.

Samaila who is with service number 09NA/63/2867, shot himself dead in anger. His corpse has been deposited at the Sani Abacha hospital in Damaturu.

The Nigeria Army spokesperson is yet to react to the sad incident.
