Diamond Bank Founder, Pascal Dozie Dies at 86

Pascal Dozie, a distinguished Nigerian entrepreneur and the founder of Diamond Bank, has passed away at the age of 86 after a battle with age-related health issues.

Known for his significant contributions to Nigeria’s banking sector and beyond, Dozie was a multi-faceted business leader. He founded Diamond Bank and also served as the chairman of Pan-Atlantic University, influencing both finance and education in Nigeria.

Born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, Pascal Dozie was highly educated, holding a degree in Economics from the prestigious London School of Economics and a master’s degree in Administrative Science from City University in London.

In addition to his work with Diamond Bank, Dozie founded the African Development Consulting Group, collaborating with major global clients such as Nestlé and Pfizer. He also played a significant role in the telecommunications industry as the chairman of MTN Group, though he later resigned and was succeeded by Ernest Ndukwe.

His immense contributions to Nigeria’s financial landscape earned him the National Award of the Order of the Niger (OON), one of the country’s highest honors.

Dozie is survived by his wife, Chinyere Dozie, and their five children, along with numerous other family members and friends who will continue to honor his legacy.
