Herbert Wigwe, a notable banker and former CEO of Access Bank, sadly passed away in a helicopter crash on February 9, 2024, in California.

He passed away with his wife Chizoba Wigwe, his son Chizi, Abimbola Ogunbanjo (the former chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group), and two pilots.

Tochi has now spoken out, sharing her feelings in a heartfelt tribute to her lost family members on their first memorial.

Notable leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, French President Emmanuel Macron, and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, gathered to celebrate the life of Herbert Wigwe, who has died.

Tochi took to Instagram to post pictures of her family, including her father, mother, and brother Chizi Wigwe, and reflected on her experiences over the last year without them.

She expressed that over the last year, she felt a wide range of emotions, from happiness to sorrow, and everything in between.

Tochi talked about how she needed to reconnect with herself and build the strength to be a reliable support for her younger siblings.

In her words;” It has been a year since I lost the three greatest pillars in my life – my father, Herbert Wigwe; my mother, Doreen Wigwe; and my brother, Chizi Wigwe. In the last 12 months, I’ve lived through a lifetime of emotions: laughter, tears, joy, anger, and sadness. But most of all, I’ve grappled with the challenge of finding my way back to happiness, rediscovering who I am, and embracing the strength I need to become a solid foundation for my younger siblings.

The coffee table tribute books are curated reflections, which bring to life personal memories. They tangibly honor my family and the profound impact they had on all of us.”
