US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Elon Musk to head a newly established Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) within his forthcoming administration.

Trump revealed that Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur, will collaborate with the founder of SpaceX and Tesla on this initiative, which is named after Musk’s preferred cryptocurrency, Dogecoin, with the aim of “dismantling” bureaucratic structures.

The duo is expected to offer external counsel to the White House on strategies to “drive large scale structural reform” according to Trump.

In previous announcements, Trump nominated Pete Hegseth, a Fox News host and combat veteran, for the position of defense secretary, and selected John Ratcliffe, a former Texas congressman and federal prosecutor, to lead the CIA.

Musk, a significant contributor to the Trump campaign, has been widely speculated to assume a role in the administration. Ramaswamy previously ran as a Republican presidential candidate earlier this year but subsequently withdrew and endorsed Trump.

In other news, Ecuadorian international Marco Angulo has tragically passed away at the age of 22, just over a month following a severe car accident, as confirmed by his club.

The LDU Quito midfielder had been hospitalized since the incident that occurred on October 7 in the southern region of Ecuador’s capital, Quito.

According to reports from Ecuador, he underwent multiple surgeries and remained in intensive care for more than a week before he succumbed to his injuries on Monday night.
