“Don’t follow what you have no sure knowledge of” – Naira Marley schools critics

  • Nigerian rapper Azeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley, has urged Nigerians to be cautious of blindly believing everything they hear and read on social media.
    • The rapper, currently fasting, shared Quran excerpts on his Twitter account to emphasize his message.
    • Naira Marley, known for his hit “Tesumole,” addressed the issue amid criticism and rumors surrounding him and his close associate, Sam Larry.

    Via social media, Nigerian rapper Azeez Fashola, better known by his stage name Naira Marley, has issued a warning to his countrymen not to believe everything they read or hear.

    The rapper, who is fasting right now, emphasised his point on Twitter by posting passages from the Quran.

    Known for songs like “Tesumole,” Naira Marley addressed the matter in the middle of persistent rumours and criticism against him and his close friend Sam Larry.

    The emergence of claims regarding his role in the demise of his last signee, Mohbad, has resulted in a substantial reaction directed towards him.

    There have been rumours circulating that media outlets, event centres, and show organizers have stopped booking him for shows or playing his music on purpose.

    The purported scandals involving Naira Marley and his friends have been blamed for these acts.

    Naira Marley tweeted verses from the Quran in reaction to these allegations, advising his fellow Nigerians to double-check information before taking it at face value.

    He wrote;

    “O believers, if an evildoer brings you any news, verify ‘it’ so you do not harm people unknowingly, becoming regretful for what you have done. Quran 49:6 (Al-hujurat).

    “Do not follow what you have no ‘sure’ knowledge of. Indeed, all will be called to account for ‘their’ hearing, sight, and intellect. Quran 17:36.

    “And do not walk on the earth arrogantly. Surely you can neither crack the earth nor stretch to the height of the mountains. Quran 17:37”.
