Dr Vwaere was a victim of gross negligence – NMA

The Nigerian Medical Association(NMA) has characterized the death of Dr. Diaso Vwaere as an instance of gross negligence, arguing that the circumstances of her death were avoidable and undoubtedly left a bad taste in people’s mouths.

The NMA claimed that it had been closely monitoring the circumstances surrounding Vwaere’s death due to injuries sustained in the General Hospital Odan House Officers’ quarters elevator crash.

Dr. Vwaere was clearly the victim of egregious negligence in elevator maintenance, according to the umbrella organization of doctors in the nation, which stated that it came to that conclusion after carefully examining all the relevant information.

Dr. Uche Ojinmah, the president of the NMA, said this in a statement on Monday.

“NMA hereby calls on the Lagos State Government to quickly initiate measures to assuage the pains and loss being felt by the family of Dr. Vwaere. The Government should also provide psychological support for the family and all the doctors residing and working in the General Hospital, Odan.

“The Government should also initiate inspection of all public elevators in Lagos State and commence routine maintenance.

NMA prayed to God to comfort the entire family and grant her soul peaceful rest while extending the organization’s deepest condolences to the family of the deceased colleague, according to a portion of the statement.

The NMA expressed its condolences to the deceased’s family and prayed to God to comfort them all and grant her soul a peaceful death.

But NMA urged the Lagos government to conduct a careful investigation and impose the proper sanctions.

NMA insisted that justice must be perceived to have been carried out and vowed to thwart any attempts to weaken or temper it.

The state government was urged to start taking action right away to ease the suffering and loss being experienced by the deceased’s family. It was also asked to start routine maintenance on all public elevators in the state and conduct an inspection of all of them.

The association, meanwhile, praised the efforts made by its members in Lagos State to see that the deceased colleague’s death was justly compensated.
