“Drake Is Better Than Kendrick Lamar”- Kanye West

  • Kanye West claims Drake has greater cultural significance than Kendrick Lamar.
  • In an interview with DJ Akademiks, West recognizes Lamar’s lyrical talent.
  • West argues that Drake’s influence on the global music industry is more substantial.
  • Kanye West has once again stirred the hip-hop conversation by asserting that Drake holds a greater cultural significance than Kendrick Lamar. In a recent interview with DJ Akademiks, West acknowledged Lamar’s lyrical prowess but maintained that Drake’s influence on the global music industry is far more substantial.

According to West, while Kendrick Lamar may have outperformed Drake in rap battles within the U.S., Drake’s reach extends beyond national borders, making him one of the most dominant figures in hip-hop worldwide. He highlighted how Drake’s music consistently shapes trends, influences new artists, and transcends cultural barriers, giving him a unique edge over his contemporaries.

West also compared Drake’s impact to that of influential artists like Future and Young Thug, both of whom have played pivotal roles in shaping modern hip-hop. He suggested that while Kendrick Lamar is critically acclaimed for his lyrical depth and storytelling, Drake’s ability to craft chart-topping hits and appeal to a diverse audience makes him a more significant force in the industry.

This isn’t the first time West has praised Drake, despite their turbulent history. The two have had a well-documented rivalry but have also shown mutual respect at times. West’s latest comments reignite the ongoing debate among hip-hop fans about whether lyrical skill or cultural influence defines an artist’s legacy.

Regardless of differing opinions, there’s no denying that both Drake and Kendrick Lamar have left an indelible mark on the music world in their own ways.

“One thing is, Drake is a million times better than Kendrick [Lamar] and a million times more important [to the hip-hop world]. What Future and [Young] Thug have done is what Drake culturally is. That sh*t was insane, bro. It’s universal,” he said.
