  • Oluwole Adegboruwa, a Nigerian man from the US, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for drug trafficking.
    • The statement was obtained from the United States Attorney’s Office, District of Utah’s website on Friday.
    • Adegboruwa and Enrique Isong were found guilty of masterminding a multi-million dollar dark web drug trafficking operation and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

A Nigerian national residing in the United States, identified as Oluwole Adegboruwa, has received a 40-year prison sentence for his involvement in drug trafficking.

This information was disclosed in a statement published on the website of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah on Friday. Adegboruwa, along with his associate, Enrique Isong, was convicted of orchestrating a multi-million dollar drug trafficking operation on the dark web, resulting in both individuals being sentenced to 40 years in prison.

Adegboruwa’s sentence includes 30 years of incarceration, along with a lifetime of supervised release and the forfeiture of over $20 million.

This forfeiture amount ranks among the largest in the history of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah, holding the defendant financially accountable for his criminal activities.

The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Jill N. Parish, following a jury’s verdict in May 2024 that found Adegboruwa and his co-defendant Isong guilty of several federal offenses, including conspiracy to distribute oxycodone and money laundering.
