The driver who killed Femi Oluwajobi of Fresh FM radio station on New Year eve had been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command after he turned himself in to the police.
Information gathered from the The command’s Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, was that the driver whose name is yet to be revealed to the public, initially lied that the deceased was hit by his electrician whom he gave the vehicle to.
Ajisebutu said, “A man was arrested in connection with the accident that killed Oluwajobi. He actually lied that he was not the driver after presenting himself at the police station. He said he gave the car to an electrician who killed the deceased on the night of December 31, 2017. But after interrogation, he confessed that he was actually the driver of the car.”
The driver later confessed that he committed the crime and it happened while he was on his way from his shop in Ogunpa area of Ibadan and that he was out in search for fuel at the time that the incident happened.
“I was coming when I saw some people beside the road on that night. The brake failed and I lost control of the vehicle. I hit an electric pole in the process and the car was about to somersault when I hit the man. I did not know if he died. I managed to escape from the scene and took a commercial motorcycle to turn myself in.”
The popular OAP had since been buried yesterday at the Sango Cemetery in Ibadan. He was knocked down close to his office, where he had initially closed and was on his way to an event on the day of the sad incident.
