Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, award-winning Nollywood actresses, participated in the epic film ‘House of Ga’a’ on Netflix, the world’s largest movie streaming platform.
‘House of Ga’a’ is a historical biopic based on true-life events in the 18th century involving Bashorun Ga’a, an aggressive and feared Prime Minister/Kingmaker who grew to be more powerful than the monarchs he crowned.
The film, which was directed and produced by Bolanle Austen-Peters, featured Femi Branch, Mike Afolarin, Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, Ibrahim Chatta, Dele Odule, Bimbo Manuel, Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Adebayo, Gabriel Afolayan, Jide ‘JBlaze’ Oyegbile, Seun Akindele, Yemi Blaq, Adeniyi Johnson, Muyiwa Ademola, Willam Benson, Gbenga Titiloye, Kunle Coker and lots more.
The movie was announced at an International Women’s Day 2024 event hosted by Netflix on Wednesday, March 6th to honour female film producers, directors, actors, and members of the Nigerian film community.
House of Ga’a is slated to premiere before the end of 2024, leaving many fans and spectators eagerly anticipating it.
Fans were overjoyed to watch their favorite women showcase their acting abilities in the same movie.
Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham are feuding quietly on social media for dominance and influence in the film business. As both well-known actresses turned producers compete to outdo each other with their projects.
According to sources, the duo has been at odds since the premiere of their films, Ijakumo (produced by Abaraham) and Battle on the Buka Street (produced by Akindele).
The dispute between Akindele and Abraham emerged a few years ago when it was discovered that Akindele shunned Abraham during birthday celebrations and vice versa. This animosity was heightened when Akindele chose to release her film, “Omo Ghetto the Saga,” on the same day as Abraham’s “Ghost and the Tout” was released in theatres two years ago.
Many admirers of both actresses were split between going to the movies to see ‘The Ghost and The Tout’ and staying at home to watch ‘Omo Ghetto the Saga’ on Netflix.
However, in response to Funke Akindele’s touching remarks marking Toyin’s 43rd birthday, they urged for an end to the conflict by 2023.
It is worth mentioning that Funke Akindele’s film ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ grossed N1.4 billion, while Toyin Abraham’s Malaika made N302 million.
Fans and followers flooded the comment section with praise for the movie House of Ga’a.
