Davido, the Afrobeats singer also known as David Adeleke, has expressed his views on the Edo State governorship election happening now.
According to reports, a large number of residents participated in the voting on Saturday for this off-cycle election.
He has been using X to call out the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for alleged election misconduct.
His interest in the election raised questions since he is not from Edo State.
Davido responded on his X account, saying his late mother, Imade Veronica Adeleke, was from Edo State.
He added that, as a Nigerian, he should care about the election, regardless of his background.
He also mentioned that he spoke out against INEC during the Osun State gubernatorial election when his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, was running.
The singer wrote, “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election … but we as Nigerians should be concerned sha .. @inecnigeria shame on you I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun ! It’s really bad. God help us.”
Remember that Davido previously supported the PDP candidate Asuen Ighodalo for the Edo gubernatorial election on his Instagram account.
