Eedris Abdulkareem Alleges N200m Bribe Attempt Over Banned Protest Song ‘Tell Your Papa’

  • Eedris Abdulkareem released a new video claiming he was offered a ₦200 million bribe regarding his song “Tell Your Papa.”
  • The song has gained popularity on social media but was banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for violating broadcasting guidelines.
  • Veteran Nigerian artist Eedris Abdulkareem has stirred fresh reactions online following the release of a new video in which he claims an attempt was made to bribe him with ₦200 million over his controversial song, Tell Your Papa.

The song, which has gained significant traction across social media, was recently banned by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC). The regulatory body stated that the track breached its guidelines on responsible broadcasting, prompting Abdulkareem to respond with sharp criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In a directive issued by Susan Obi, the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring at the NBC, all radio and television platforms in Nigeria were instructed to cease airing the track.

Released earlier this week, Tell Your Papa has fueled widespread discussion online due to its bold critique of the nation’s leadership and economic challenges. In the lyrics, Abdulkareem appeals directly to Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, urging him to convey the struggles of everyday Nigerians to his father.

In the recently shared video, the outspoken musician claimed that a government official reached out to him with a ₦200 million offer in an effort to silence his message. Abdulkareem asserted that he turned down the money and reaffirmed his commitment to speaking out, despite the official ban on his song.

    In a caption, Eedris wrote:

“That’s what’s up! No Retreat, No Surrender!!! Aluta Continua….”
