The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Less than an hour after he was liberated from the Department of State Services’ custody on Thursday night, Emefiele was picked up.
It was learned that the former governor of the CBN is presently being questioned at the EFCC’s National Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.
Vanguard learned that the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria is being investigated by the EFCC for possible wrongdoing while he led the nation’s largest bank.
Remember that Emefiele was detained by the DSS in June, the same day President Bola Tinubu abruptly removed him from office.
According to the Presidency, Emefiele was suspended at the time due to “ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.”
