Ekiti Court Sentence Armed Robbers to Death by Hanging.
On Tuesday, an Ekiti State High Court sentenced two persons, Adekunle Osho, 31, and Chinedu Ugwu, 34, to death by hanging for armed robbery.
Justice Adekunle Adeleye said Osho and Ugwu were actively involved in robbery and were linked with a stolen vehicle, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
“The accused are guilty as charged and hereby sentenced to death by hanging,” he said in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
The convicts were charged with robbing one Chief Ojo Gbenga of his Toyota Camry car and N150,000 cash on or about November 14, 2014 at Oke Ila, Tinuola area of Ado Ekiti.
Gbenga, in a police statement, said the armed robbers blocked his car with theirs while on his way home, dragged him out, shot him in the leg and took away his car and N150,000.
