Nigerian rapper Lanre Dabiri, also known as Eldee D Don, shared insights about the music genre that Grammy-winning artist Ayodeji Balogun, or Wizkid, began with before establishing his career.
Eldee, who moved overseas a few years back, appeared on Adesope Shopsydoo’s Afrobeat podcast.
He praised his father’s contributions to technology in Nigeria and revealed that Wizkid’s early music was not in the Afrobeat style.
He mentioned that Wizkid was interested in Reggae and Dancehall music. Still, he recognized his potential and decided to talk to Banky W about him.
In the recording, Eldee D Don shared that he advised the music star, who recently celebrated his wedding anniversary, that Wizkid needed support to avoid bad influences.
The rapper also emphasized to Wizkid the importance of being original and creating music that resonates with Nigerian culture.
