Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has taken away the verification tag from Prof. Yemi Osinbajo’s account, the former vice president of Nigeria.
The verification tag, specifically designed for government officials, had previously been attached to Osinbajo’s account.
However, it has since been taken down, leaving the former President Muhammadu Buhari’s account with just the verification tag still present.
As of today, May 29, 2023, Osinbajo and Buhari officially ceded control to the new government headed by Bola Tinubu.
At the time of publication, it was still unclear why Twitter dropped Osinbajo’s verification tag but kept Buhari’s.
