Elon Musk’s Grok AI Sparks Debate In Nigeria Over Wizkid Vs Davido Vocal Comparison

  • Grok AI is an artificial intelligence tool on X (formerly Twitter) gaining popularity in Nigeria
  • Nigerians are using Grok to verify information and combat misinformation
  • A recent debate arose in the Nigerian music scene regarding vocal abilities and rhythm of artists Wizkid and Davido
  • Grok AI, the artificial intelligence tool on X (formerly Twitter), has been making headlines in Nigeria due to its responses to various user queries. Since becoming available in the country, many Nigerians have used the AI to verify information and challenge misinformation.

Recently, Grok found itself at the center of a heated debate in the Nigerian music scene after fans asked it to compare the vocal abilities and rhythm of two of the country’s biggest artists—Wizkid (Ayodeji Balogun) and Davido (David Adeleke).

A viral question posed to the AI read: “Between Wizkid and Davido, who has the best vocals and rhythm?”

Grok’s response quickly sparked controversy, particularly among Davido’s fans. The AI stated that Wizkid has the edge in both categories, describing his voice as smoother and more versatile in blending Afrobeats and R&B. It also noted that Davido is known for his energy and hit songs but claimed his vocal range tends to stay in a “safer zone,” with some critics even referring to his voice as “frog voice.”

This assessment did not sit well with many of Davido’s supporters, leading to heated discussions online about the AI’s accuracy and reigniting the long-standing rivalry between the two artists.
