EndBadGovernance: Protest begins in Niger State

Despite the government’s pleadings, some youths have taken to the streets of Niger State to protest Nigeria’s economic hardship.

Gistlover said that protestors rushed the streets on Monday, chanting anti-government songs.

They carried signs reading ‘Enough is Enough’; ‘Stop Anti-Masses Policies’; ‘We Are Not Slaves In Our Country’; ‘Hardship Is Unbearable’, ‘Fuel Subsidy Must Be Back’, among others.

Recall that last week, Governor Mohammed Bago wooed Niger residents with welfare items in an attempt to avoid the protest.

He had proposed a N20,000 wage increase for state and local government civil officials, as well as the immediate release of 50,000 metric tonnes of varied grains to be sold at reduced prices to alleviate the current economic hardship.

In other news, Jide Kosoko, a veteran Nollywood actor, has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s performance during his last year in office.

The actor reiterated that he has no regrets about voting for Tinubu, adding he is “doing very well” despite the difficulties of rebuilding a shattered economy.

Kosoko expressed his ideas during a recent interview “Curiosity Made Me Ask” with Bae U Barbie.

Kosoko stressed that restoring the economy is a difficult and time-consuming task.

He reiterated his support for Tinubu, emphasizing their longstanding relationship and Tinubu’s contributions to nation-building.

Kosoko emphasized Tinubu’s contribution in Nigeria’s campaign for democracy, saying his name should not be left out of the list of people who fought for the current democratic system.

The host asked: “People that voted for Tinubu do you think they should be bullied?”

Kosoko replied: “That is their own business. Their own cup of tea. I am entitled to my opinion. I love the man I voted for. And I know he is doing well.

“He is doing well. If only you know how repairing things are, you will understand that he is doing very well.

“I voted for him because I have known him for a long time. And I have seen quite a lot of his contributions to nation building.

“You cannot even talk about this present democracy that we are all enjoying without saying Tinubu’s name among the people that struggled for us to have it.”
