Obiano to release all illegal detainees in SARS cells, says former Awkuzu OC will be relieved of his political appointment and prosecuted
Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano said that former Awkuzu SARS Commander, James Nwafor will be relieved of his political appointment and recommended for immediate prosecution, along with other SARS officials that abused their offices.
The Governor, who disclosed this on Thursday, October 15th, 2020, while addressing the #ENDSARS protesters at the Government House, Awka, said that effective tomorrow, all illegal detainees in various SARS formations in the state will be released, while officers found wanting will be prosecuted.
He addressed other issues raised by the protesters asking them to open up the expressway which has been blocked.
Recall that Nwafor, who served as commander of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Awkuzu, Anambra State has been accused of atrocious acts, extra-judicial killings and human rights violations.
