In a significant tribute to highlife star Mike ‘Gentleman’ Ejeagha, Peter Mbah, the Governor of Enugu State, has renamed a major road in his honor.

This notable decision followed a special visit to Ejeagha’s residence, where the iconic artist, known for his 1983 hit “Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche,” expressed his gratitude for the governor’s visit.

Ejeagha has made a remarkable comeback thanks to Brain Jotter’s popular dance trend, which includes his song in a fun routine where dancers compete, show off unique leg moves, and chase each other, all while enjoying the catchy chorus of “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo.”

This trend has sparked renewed interest in Ejeagha’s music, bringing his classic appeal back into focus. In touching videos shared online, Governor Mbah and his team are seen in Ejeagha’s home, with the governor sitting close to the moved singer. Ejeagha’s happiness is clear as he feels the love and honor from the moment.

Mbah posted on X (formerly Twitter) to say that his administration has renovated and renamed Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike to honor Ejeagha.

He wrote;

“Today, we honoured a living legend, commissioning and renaming the popular Obinagu Road in Abakpa Nike Enugu, which leads to the home of Gentleman Mike Ejeagha

“Our administration purposefully rebuilt this road earlier in the year in honour our folk music legend and for the benefit of Ndi Enugu.
