In a statement, the league confirmed 1,575 players and staff were tested between Monday, October 12, and Sunday, October 18.
“The Premier League can today confirm that between Monday Oct. 12 and Sunday Oct. 18, 1,575 players and club staff were tested for COVID-19. Of these, there were eight new positive tests,” the Premier League said in a statement.
Those eight players or club staff must now isolate for a period of 10 days, meaning they will not be allowed to take part in match preparations.
The announcement comes after Crystal Palace striker, Jordan Ayew tested positive for Covid-19 after returning from international duty with Ghana, but the 29-year-old revealed he was asymptomatic.
