Controversies surrounding the shocking death of popular singer who passed away after a ghastly accident is still unfolding after a latest development.
Francis Atisu Vondee, who was identified as the military officer who died in a car crash with Ghanaian dancehall artiste Ebony Reigns, will face court-martial, even in his demise. His corpse, according to the Army, will be jailed.
Information coming out of Burma camp indicates that the Lance corporal had asked for a sick leave to treat an impending malaria, but ended up in Mankranso, where he met his untimely death alongside the popular singer.
According to the sources at the military high command, Vondee who was in a military uniform at the time of the accident, was not officially deployed for the bodyguard duties and it was not clear how he got to find himself in the situation.
Military sources reveal that at the end of investigations, Vondee’s body will be court-martialed it is very much likely that it is sentenced to 40 days in the military guardroom, in line with the laws and statutes governing the Ghana Army.
As a dead personnel in the Army, his uniform will be hanged in the guardroom for 40 days after which his body be released to the family for burial.
The Army also may not release his death benefits to his family and they may also forfeit all his insurance packages.
According to police, Ebony Reigns and two military officers were on board a Jeep with registration AS 497—16 from Sunyani heading towards Kumasi when it collided head-on with a VIP bus heading towards Sunyani from Kumasi.
The singer was said to have died immediatly on the spot of the accident scene, but the two military occupants died later at the Bechem Government Hospital after they were rushed there, DSP John Adusei, Mankraso District Commander, confirmed.
The driver of the VIP bus reportedly survived the accident but he is currently unconscious at the same hospital receiving treatment from doctors.
