The mutual support between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President-elect Donald Trump continues to blossom.
In the latest manifestation, Putin has defended Trump against allegations carried in a controversial intelligence brief that Trump paid for prostitutes to perform salacious acts during a visit to Moscow.
Putin and Trump have voiced mutual praise and admiration for each other.
In his remarks yesterday, Putin expressed strong doubts on the veracity of the allegations, noting that Trump has been in contact with beauty pageants from across the world for several years and would therefore not stoop low to hire prostitutes in Russia.
However, he added that this does not mean Russian prostitutes are bad; in fact, he emphasized that they are “the best in the world.”
Analysts believe relations between Russia and the US will likely strengthen after Trump’s inauguration
The allegations were part of a controversial brief that emerged in the mainstream media after intelligence agencies included it in their briefings to the US President and President-elect. It has been emphasized that the dossier’s contents have not been verified and substantiated, and that they are probably unverifiable. Trump has also denied the allegations, labelling them “fake news.”
