The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has distanced itself from the controversy surrounding the alleged disappearance of ₦160 million from the account of an NGO owned by social media commentator Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
The case, which has sparked widespread public attention and debate, took a new turn as the police clarified that they are neither aware of nor involved in investigating the matter.
In a dramatic Instagram video shared on Friday, VeryDarkMan alleged that ₦160 million had been fraudulently transferred from the NGO’s account to an unknown beneficiary. He claimed to have successfully frozen the siphoning account using a Post No Debit (PND) order and recovered ₦20 million.
While the allegations initially garnered sympathy from some supporters, they also drew significant skepticism. Critics have questioned the authenticity of VeryDarkMan’s claims and the timing of his revelations, adding another layer of controversy to the unfolding saga.
The incident continues to fuel conversations online, with many calling for greater transparency and accountability in the handling of NGO funds.
The plot thickened on Saturday when Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, clarified that the police had no involvement in the matter, said the command was neither aware of nor investigating the case.
Adeh stated;
“The FCT Police Command is not aware of any case involving VDM’s missing funds and is not conducting any investigation into it.
“The individual in question should be contacted to clarify where the matter was reported, as there is no record of such a case with the FCT Police Command.”
