“Female content creators don’t get deserved recognition” – Real Judy reveals

• Real Judy revealed that male content creators receive more recognition than their female counterparts.

A content creator, Judith Olisa, widely recognized as ‘Real Judy,’ has voiced her concerns regarding the inadequate recognition afforded to female content creators.

In a recent interview with Saturday Beats, she remarked that male content creators tend to receive greater acknowledgment compared to their female peers.

She said, “I don’t think female content creators find it hard to succeed. I don’t think so. The only thing is that I feel like we are the least recognised. We are not really applauded in the society. They don’t really get to applaud the female content creators. I feel like the male content creators are more exalted than the females. A lot of us put a lot of work into our craft, it’s not hard. It’s just that we don’t get the recognition that we deserve”.

Speaking further, she disclosed that she does not feel pressured to adopt a more Westernised accent in her content due to the strong Igbo intonation she uses in her skits.

“My accent in my videos is just for content purposes. I enjoy the character I play with the igbotic accent. I love it. Sometimes I watch myself and I am entertained. My videos entertain me as a whole. So I don’t watch myself as ‘me’, I watch myself as a character on its own. If I am ever pressured to do Western kind of content or speak English, it is to counter the kind of messages I get.

“Some even recommend that I attend adult school because of the way the character I play sounds in my content. That is the only thing that will make me clear the air. Sometimes I drop content of me speaking English to make people know that the Igbo accent I use in my content is only for the sole purpose of entertainment”, she revealed.
