N92.123 billion has been approved by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government, for the construction of a second runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Gistlover reports that the fund was approved on Wednesday (today) during the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Buhari.
Addressing state house reporters shortly after the meeting held at the presidential villa, Abuja, Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika explained that the entire fund would be spread over a number of projects to be carried out at the airport.
Gistlover understands that the approval of the huge sum is coming a day after the inauguration of a new terminal building at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
Meanwhile, former Governor of Ogun state, Gbenga Daniel has advised Nigerians on how to vote in the upcoming 2023 elections.
He urged Nigerians to vote with their brain instead of their stomach.
The former governor said this during an annual lecture of Freedom Online, titled, ‘Nigeria’s political indices: Bright or bleak future?’ in Lagos on Tuesday, Gistlover reports.
He maintained that the only way to move the country forward is to question those who will be vying for political offices in 2023.
Daniel stated that it is not enough for political aspirants to make promises but also reveal how they would be achieved.
He said: “The next election (2023) offers us an opportunity to rewrite the destiny of this country. The decision we make next year will be with us for arguably eight years. That’s long enough to make the country better or make it worse.
“We don’t need PowerPoint presentations and well-written manifestos that end up in the dustbin of history.
“We need leadership that, as they say in the mathematical parlance, ‘show workings.’ Anybody can write and make promises, but we have to be intentional in ensuring that we elect those who know how to bring to life these visions.
“If someone promises to create television, don’t just clap, ask the person questions on how he intends to do that.
“But again, we would have lost the morality to question our leaders properly if we continued to indulge in the menace threatening our democracy: vote-buying.”
