Nigerian filmmaker Aniebiet Francis has spoken out against the Akwa Ibom community for shaming women in their late thirties who are single.
In her Facebook post, she mentioned that some believe these unmarried women are unhappy.
“I think it is only in Akwa Ibom folks think every unmarried lady in her late thirties wasn’t having suitors or is not having suitors. In their shallow minds, every unmarried lady is depressed. I don’t know if such reasoning is a product of illiteracy, poverty mentality or lack of exposure. Las Las, everyone go dey alright,” she wrote in a post on Monday.

In other news, Nigerian TikTok star Habeeb Hamzat, widely recognized as Peller, recently responded to rumors about the earnings from his live session with music star Davido.
Speculation suggested they made $400,000 (around N658 million) from gifts, but Peller clarified on his TikTok account that the actual amount received was about 300,000 coins, roughly N1.5 million.
He urged fans to stop spreading misinformation, stating that while Davido proposed they share the earnings, he chose to let the person managing the exchange keep the funds.
Peller emphasized that meeting Davido was more valuable than any financial gain, expressing a desire for recognition over money.
Following the session, he reiterated his message on X (formerly Twitter), encouraging fans to focus on the positive vibes from their interaction.
In his words:
“You people should calm down with the fake news abeg. The purpose of the LIVE STREAM with the Baddest no be for gifting or game. It was all good vibes and music abeg. Na just 359k coin people send on the live and that’s less that 2m naira. So make una calm down. Love to OBO and the whole team for the opportunity.”
