Barely two days after the popular Atakumosa Central market in Ilesa was gutted by fire, a sawmill located around Oke Omiru in the same town was, on Wednesday, night razed by fire.
Sources informed Tribune Online that the raging inferno started around 10.05 pm, thus creating tension around the scene of the incident.
Though, the actual cause of the fire could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report, men of the Osun State Fire Service, Ilesa unit swiftly moved to the sawmill to put out the fire.
Confirming the fire outbreak to our correspondent in Osogbo on Thursday, the administrative officer of the Osun State Fire Service, Mr Fatai Aremu said the inferno also affected a church inside the sawmill.
According to him, “the damage would have been enormous if not for the timely arrival of fire officers from Ilesa and backup from fire personnel from Osogbo and federal fire officers assisted to put the raging fire under control.”
