According to the Katsina State Police Command, five persons were killed when terrorists stormed Sayaya village in the state’s Matazu local government area.
This was revealed by police spokesperson Aliyu Abubakar Sadiq in a statement he sent the media yesterday in Katsina.
He said, “On November 6, 2023, at about 0055 hours, armed bandits in their numbers, wielding dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles and shooting sporadically, attacked Sayaya village, Matazu LGA, Katsina State.
“Upon receipt of the report, operatives were mobilised to the scene, where they engaged the bandits in a gun duel and repelled the attack.
“However, five people were shot dead, two were injured and five others were kidnapped by the assailants. The injured were rushed to the hospital for immediate medical attention,” he said.
According to Sadiq, as efforts to ensure the rescue of the kidnapped victims and the arrest of the perpetrators of the heinous act intensify, the state commissioner of police, who expressed condolences to the families of those affected by the attack, urged members of the public with information that will aid the investigation to assist the investigation.
