Former House of Representatives member Shina Peller is expected to join Oyo State’s PDP. The PDP’s southwest state spokesperson, Michael Ogunsina, confirmed the move, as reported by Daily Trust on Thursday, December 14.
Ogunsina stated that plans were in motion to host a lavish welcome event for Peller and his followers in each of the 13 local government areas (LGAs) that make up the Oyo North senatorial district.
Ogunsina said: “We are excited to welcome Hon. Shina Peller into the Peoples Democratic Party. His wealth of experience and dedication to public service will undoubtedly contribute to the party’s growth and our collective goal of ensuring a prosperous Oyo state.”
Peller was elected to the Green Chamber in 2019 to represent the federal constituency of Kajola/Iwajowa/Iseyin/Itesiwaju. However, in 2022, as the general elections of 2023 approached, he broke away from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to run for the Senate on the platform of the Accord Party, having lost the party’s primary election to Abdulfatai Buhari.
