This statement follows a wave of criticism directed at Funsho for posting a Thanksgiving message on Instagram shortly after her husband’s second wife, Mercy Aigbe, experienced a significant loss.
Many perceived Funsho’s timing as lacking sensitivity, given the situation.
Conversely, some supporters defended Funsho, noting that she frequently shares messages of gratitude on her social media platforms. They contended that her post merely reflected her personal beliefs and should not be interpreted as an inconsiderate act.
In a related development, actress Moyo Lawal offered assistance to her colleague Mercy Aigbe by donating N500,000 after a fire incident severely damaged Aigbe’s home.
On Wednesday, the filmmaker announced the unfortunate news of her loss through a video and a brief message, confirming that no lives were lost.
In a subsequent update, Mercy Aigbe took to her Instagram account to express her appreciation for Moyo Lawal’s kindness.
Accompanying a screenshot of the transaction, Mercy Aigbe wrote:
“Omg 🥹🥹 @moyolawalofficial just sent me 500k to support my movie 🙏🙏🙏 I am so overwhelmed with the love shown me from everyone 😭😭😭😭😭
“I am so emotional right now 😭 @moyolawalofficial this is such a surprise 😭 God bless you immensely! I am so so so grateful 🙏🙏 Guys please help me say a big Thank You to her.”
