Glastonbury: Wizkid Breaks Record as First African Artiste to Ever Headline UK’s Biggest Music Festival With 210,000 Attendees

Wizkid, the Grammy-winning Nigerian music artist, has made history by becoming the first African artist to headline Glastonbury, the UK’s largest music festival.

The Glastonbury music festival, held on Friday in Somerset, England, drew an astounding crowd of over 210,000 attendees.

Wizkid performed on the festival’s “Other Side Stage” and gave an outstanding performance. He performed an enthralling combination of his chart-topping tunes, including “Essence,” “One Dance,” “Ojuelegba,” “Soco,” and “True Love.”

Burna Boy, another well-known Nigerian artist, performed at the prestigious Glastonbury Festival last year, though not as a headliner.

“Fatherhood Has Changed Me A Lot” — Wizkid

Wizkid Balogun, the Grammy-winning rapper, talks out on how becoming a father changed his life for the better.

The musician recently spoke with Shopsydoo, a prominent UK-based Afrobeats podcaster, about how becoming a father has changed him both personally and musically.

Being a parent, according to Wizkid, instilled an overflow of love in his heart, functioning as a motivational force that pulls him ahead. He highlighted that it is his great love that motivates his desire and determination.

Furthermore, Wizkid stated that music is more than just a job for him; it is a way of life. He passionately declared that it pervades all element of his life, that it is something he “sleeps,” “eats,” and “breathes.”

In his words, ‘’I sleep, breathe, eat, sh*t music. I’m always trying to elevate my craft from my sound, my videos, my productions, everything to a whole new level,’’ he said.

‘’It [being a father] has changed me a lot. I am grown; lots of love in my heart, fuels me to keep going, that is the drive, the only drive to keep me going.

“My family, my kids, I just feel blessed to be their father, take care of them, God put me in that position, it is the biggest blessing in the world, being able to recreate.’’
