Actress Sola Sobowale has offered insights into her career, resilience, and the divine purpose she believes has been set for her.

During her address at the KAP Film and Television Academy workshop held in Ikeja, Lagos, on Tuesday, the 58-year-old actress emphasized that she is far from considering retirement. She expressed that her journey in the entertainment industry is just beginning.

The event, a partnership between Kunle Afolayan’s KAP Academy and the United States Embassy, drew numerous distinguished personalities from the arts and entertainment sectors.

Notable attendees included veteran filmmaker Tunde Kelani, KAP Academy director Seun Soyinka, visual artist and cinematographer Erin Wesley, and acclaimed American director Angel Williams.

In an interview with QEDNG, Sola made it abundantly clear that retirement is not in her plans.

“I’m not ready to retire. I am just starting,” she asserted, countering any suggestions that her career might be nearing its end.

Reflecting on her experiences, the actress discussed her ability to balance her professional and personal life, attributing her achievements to a higher calling.

“I keep saying God ordained me for a particular purpose. And that purpose is putting smiles on people’s faces,” she stated, emphasizing that her contributions extend beyond acting. “If I am not a doctor, I will be a preacher, a teacher, or an entertainer. Everything I have touched, I have done it and I have been there.”

She expressed her appreciation for her fans, recognizing their support as instrumental to her ongoing relevance.

“You people made me relevant because you are supporting me. With God and you people around me, I am just starting. The sky is my beginning.”

Addressing the media’s propensity to circulate unverified information, she firmly asserted, “They can’t spoil my name.”

She further quoted a well-known Yoruba proverb, stating, “Who God has planted, no man can uproot.”

In May, Sobowale addressed rumors regarding an alleged drug trafficking arrest in Saudi Arabia.

In a recent episode of the King of Talk podcast hosted by Teju Babyface, she shared her experience regarding the unfounded rumors of her death in Saudi Arabia.

She explained that after relocating to the United Kingdom for low-wage employment, a report emerged alleging that she had passed away in the Middle East. This narrative astonished her fans, particularly when they witnessed her return to Nigeria, alive and well.
