“God Told Me To Go Back To My People”- Yul Edochie Claims God Led Him To Traditional Worship

Nigerian actor and pastor Yul Edochie has revealed that his journey into traditional worship was guided by divine instruction.

In 2023, Edochie stirred controversy when he launched his online ministry and declared himself a pastor. However, after conducting only a few services, he began showing an interest in traditional religious practices.

On March 19, 2025, the actor took to Instagram to explain the shift. He shared that while preaching, he experienced a sense of incompleteness. According to him, God directed him to return to his roots and learn more about his cultural heritage.

Edochie emphasized that he could not fully preach about the Israelites without first understanding the traditions of his own people in Nteje. He stated that embracing traditional worship brought him a newfound sense of completeness.

In his words:

“While preaching the word of God, I felt a vacuum. I felt there was more to it. I felt incomplete.

Then God said to me, ‘Go home and know about your people. You can not be preaching about the people of Israel, yet you know nothing about the people of Nteje.

Go home and learn the traditional worship and ways of your people, for they are approved by God. And when I came back home, I became complete.”
