Nigerian gospel artist Somtochukwu Nsofor, known as Essemm, is on a quest to break the Guinness World Record for the longest continuous singing.
The current record is held by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare at 105 hours, but Essemm aims to go beyond that with a goal of 128 hours of non-stop singing.
Nsofor shared with reporters that his mission is to beat the existing record.
The event will take place in Lagos and will be open to the public, with live streaming for viewers worldwide.
Nsofor mentioned that it wasn’t only about setting a new record, but also about something more,“Seeing Jesus Christ on a global scale. I do not think anybody has broken the record talking about Jesus Christ.”
Nsofor, known as Essemm, highlighted the importance of using music to share the gospel “I believe music is a powerful tool to heal and transform lives and I want the effort to serve as a testament to the strength of faith.
“I do not know how I will put it but I know what this is going to do when we break this record, it will be clear that someone, who sang gospel music broke the record. It is about the kingdom, it is a global media impact for the gospel,” he said.
