Gov. Alex commissions  three roads and Street Light in Aba

Dr. Alex Otti, Abia State Governor has commissioned the newly rehabilitated Emelogu, Shallom and Cemetery roads in Aba, with solar street lights.

In laying the groundwork for the roads, Otti assured the people of Aba of his commitment to keeping his campaign promises and explained why he is investing in road infrastructure: “A good road network is a huge enabler for economic development.”

What Aba needs, according to him, is to be opened up with good infrastructure and an environment that supports the social and economic well-being of the populace.

Otti mentioned that the Cemetery Market Road has not been used in 20 years and declared that his government is committed to putting an end to touts’ activities in the markets.

In saying thanks to the locals and contractors, he emphasized the need for everyone’s involvement in building a new Abia.

In the upcoming weeks, a water fountain will be installed at the Emelogu roundabout, according to the governor.

“Solar street lights were properly installed and the Emelogu road was flagged in two weeks. Additionally, a roundabout is located at the end of the road. The roundabout will have a water fountain installed in a few weeks. Additionally, work will be completed before the year’s end from the roundabout all the way down to the Orji Uzor bridge.

Before the year is out, the entire Emelogu Road will be motorable. I want to thank you for the assistance you provided to the contractor and the government. Cooking and feeding the workers was being done by some of you. I want to remind you that when we came, we promised to redevelop Aba, and we have not even started,” Otti said. The contractors claimed they had never seen anything like it.

In his speech, the state’s commissioner of works, Mr. Otumchere Oti, claimed that improving the state’s road networks would have a positive effect on both economic development and citizen stress reduction.

He urged the populace to repay the government’s kindness by maintaining clear roads of trash and obstructions in the drainage system.

The Commissioner explained that it would be illegal to repair cars, drop trash in drains, or sell items on the street, and he also said that the necessary legal framework is being put in place to enforce the policy.

In their various speeches, the president of the Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA), Chief Jerry Kalu, a resident of Emelogu Road, Mr. Uche Okafor, among others, praised Otti for repairing the roads and gave the assurance that the Aba community would continue to back his administration.
