The Anambra State government is taking strong action against fake pastors and prophets who misuse religion for crime and corruption.
They are preparing to arrest and prosecute those who use the church to carry out scams and illegal activities.
Dr. Law Mefor, the Commissioner for Information, shared this news in a special video interview with ABS. He mentioned that Governor Soludo’s administration plans to purify the religious community by removing both fake Christians and traditional worshippers.
He emphasized that the state cannot stand by while fraudsters pretending to be ‘men of God’ take advantage of people’s faith, manipulate their feelings, and gain from staged miracles and false prophecies, all while supporting crime and corruption.
Dr. Mefor pointed out that the crackdown will address multiple fraudulent activities, including the selling of fake ‘holy’ water and miracle oils, misleading prophecies intended to exploit people, and fake spiritual meetings to draw in desperate followers.
He warned that the recently passed Anambra State Homeland Security Law will be tough, making sure that no scammer, no matter how they disguise themselves, escapes justice.

The surprising news created a stir on social media when Nollywood producer Stanley Ontop shared it on his Instagram, highlighting the ongoing drama.
His peers, including Evan Okoro and Radiogad, were both shocked and entertained, with many guessing who could be the next to be revealed as Anambra’s religious scene prepares for a major shake-up.
