The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria Cross River State branch has accused state governors of alleged attempt to truncate democracy.
The State Chairman of JUSUN, Comrade Asanya Ebong regretted the action of the state governors over the non-implementation of financial autonomy to judiciary.
“The Governors’ refusal to adheard to and implement the Executive order 10 signed by the President which authorized financial autonomy of judiciary is an attempt to truncate democracy
“The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria met at the State Judiciary Headquarters with the Leadership of Nigeria Bar Association Calabar, Ogoja and Ikom branches and their members were with us on solidarity,” he said
Consequently, JUSUN said that in order to compel the Governors to see reasons they embarked on a protest.
It was leant that the protesters were receive by the state deputy governor, Prof Evara Esu who was given a protest letter by the Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association, Bar Paul Ebiala for onward delivery to the Governor, Prof Ben Ayade who was not available when the protesters visited.
