Nigerian singer Seyi Sodimu recently shared an old video explaining how he promoted his hit song ‘Love Me Jeje.’

It is now known that Tems used a sample from ‘Love Me Jeje’ in a song that won the award for Best African Music Performance.

News of her achievement has gone viral on social media, with fans, fellow musicians, and loved ones joining in the celebration. Yet, some critics argue that Tems was ungrateful for not acknowledging Seyi Sodimu, the creator of the sampled song.

In an interview, the singer revealed that his song was rejected back in 2004 when he attempted to market it in Los Angeles. He was told he appeared American but sounded African.

Just before he left Nigeria, the song gained popularity on Ray Power FM and was featured at almost every wedding happening then.
