Grammys 2025: Ubi Franklin slams Samklef for shading Davido

Following Davido’s recent defeat at the Grammy Awards, former music producer Samklef took to X to ridicule the artist.

Samklef remarked that Davido’s loss was amusing, insinuating that Burna Boy and Wizkid were likely entertained by his unsuccessful bid for the award.

He also directed criticism towards Davido’s supporters, known as 30BGs, suggesting that they were excessively invested in his achievements.

Additionally, he emphasized that financial resources cannot substitute for genuine talent, commending Tems for her authentic abilities and modesty.

He said: “Burnaboy and Wizkid go Dey one place just Dey laff he wan win Grammy!” “Please check on 30BGs o! Thank God say dem no dey bribe for Grammy-if not, we for no hear word today! At the end of the day, money can’t save you if you don’t have real talent. Tems won because she’s truly gifted. Now she has the house, the private jet, the expensive cars-but no unnecessary show-off. Just pure talent.”

In response, Ubi Franklin quickly admonished Samklef for his disrespectful remarks.

Ubi reminded Samklef that Davido is not the first artist to receive a Grammy nomination without winning, referencing Chris Brown’s 25 nominations before achieving two wins.

He urged Samklef to refrain from making negative comments, noting that he had previously addressed him privately as a friend.

“Samklef you actually need to stop this please, David is not the first person who has gotten nominated and hasn’t won yet. Chris Brown after 25 Nominations he just got two. Stop dragging David into your continuous disrespectful commentary. I am very certain Burna and wiz aren’t even bothered about the outcome yesterday at the Grammy. I have spoken to you in private as my friend, you need to actually stop this rubbish you have been doing, please stop.“, he wrote.
