After recording 227 hours of cooking in ten days, Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak called off her attempt at a cook-a-thon and announced that the Guinness World Records would investigate her evidence.
The Guinness World Records recognized Failatu’s attempt to break the record for the longest cooking marathon when she fought to unseat Irish chef Alan Fisher, who had overthrown Nigerian chef Hilda Baci in November 2023.
After cooking for 119 hours and 57 minutes, Fisher smashed Baci’s previous record by more than 24 hours, and his status as the world record holder was officially validated on November 7, 2023.
At the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, Failatu began her endeavor on New Year’s Day and cooked for 227 hours.
It was learned that Abdul-Razak cooked a wide variety of dishes during the cooking session.
Supporters at the location celebrated the accomplishment as the stopwatch reached the 227th hour on Wednesday.
GWR’s response to the lengthy session was shared on its X (formerly Twitter) account. “We look forward to reviewing her evidence!”
