Gunmen have kidnapped four female students from Nasarawa State University (NSUK), Keffi.

Rahila Hanya (SLT), Josephine Gershon (Computer Science), Rosemary Samuel (Business Administration), and Goodness Samuel (Geography) are the students who are affected.

On Monday night, they were taken hostage in Keffi’s Angwan Kare neighborhood.

At around 10:30 p.m., it was reported that gunmen broke into the students’ off-campus apartment and kidnapped them.

The state police command ‘s public relations officer, DSP Nansel Ramhan, who confirmed the incident, said security agencies have launched a manhunt with a view to rescuing the students.

“The command is aware of the kidnapping at about 12:55am as a distress call was received that a house located at Aangwan kaare, Keffi was invaded by unidentified armed men. The police in collaboration with the military, responded accordingly and combed the area, but to no avail.

“The commissioner of police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescue the four victims unhurt,” he said.

The event was also confirmed by the Student Union Government (SUG) president, comrade Solomon Timmy, and the secretary-general, comrade Riwonga Lucky Ali.

The victims, according to them, were 100-level pupils.

In a related development, gunmen in Kogi State also kidnapped Alfa Fasasi Ola Mejabi, an Islamic preacher, along with his younger brother.

The cleric and others came upon the kidnappers on Sunday while transporting the body of Sheikh Musa Olorunkemi, the senior imam of Ayegunle Gbede, from Lokoja.

They were transporting the deceased chief imam’s body to Ayegunle Gbede in Kogi State’s Ijumu local government for burial.

The incident took place in Oshokoshoko along the Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba route, according to one of the car’s occupants who managed to escape being kidnapped and spoke to reporters.

A source told LEADERSHIP that the victims’ telephone lines had been switched off, but added the kidnappers made contact with the family on Monday morning demanding for N10 million ransom.
