Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has shared a heartbreaking cry for help, opening up about her ongoing health battles and financial struggles.
In a distressing video posted on her Instagram page, the visibly sick and frail-looking actress appealed to her followers for support. Abubakar, who has been vocal about her health challenges, revealed that she is dealing with multiple medical conditions, including high blood pressure, which recently spiked to 157.
She disclosed that she has undergone several MRI scans at a Turkish hospital in Nigeria and is still awaiting further medical procedures. The actress lamented her prolonged absence from the movie industry, which has left her in a difficult financial state.
Expressing her pain and disappointment, Halima accused her colleagues and even her best friend of turning their backs on her during her most challenging times.
In her words:
“People are confused about what is happening. I’m not feeling fine up till now; I’m just good at being strong. I’m just pretending as if I’m okay. This is the real me because every day you see me post pictures with the TikTok filter, but this is how I look. How could somebody say I’m lying that I am sick? I go to a Turkish hospital, which is the biggest in Nigeria, but this is not me. I don’t just know.”
She also addressed the accusations that she was faking her illness, saying:
“You sacked me from Nollywood, but what’s all this betrayal about? It’s a mad person that lies that they are sick. They said I was never sick, that I was lying. I was in the village for more than one year. I moved here recently because of the hospital where I go for check-ups. I’m now done with check-ups; there’s nothing wrong medically now.”
Abubakar further emphasized her frustration, revealing that her own best friend has not checked on her throughout her struggles.
“I’m supposed to have an MRI, and I’m still waiting to go to have it. I have so many things medically to do. My MRI, my BP is 157. What am I thinking? My own best friend said I am lying to the public, and we are not even living in the same place. You didn’t come to check on me even once.”
With over six years away from Nollywood, the actress questioned why she continues to face backlash despite her evident suffering.
“It’s over six years since I have appeared in a movie. What else do you guys want? Do you want me to die or kill myself? I am heartbroken. Can’t you all see how I look? I have done MRI three times at a Turkish hospital.”
Halima Abubakar’s emotional plea has sparked reactions from fans and industry colleagues, with many calling for immediate support for the ailing actress.
